Tested Reviews the Structure Sensor for 3D Scanning

Earlier this year, my wife and I had the opportunity to review the Structure Sensor from Occipital.  The device, which can be connected to the latest generations of iPads and iPhones, is capable of creating high resolution 3D scans for augmented reality and 3D printing applications.  As fun and carefree as my review may have been, I admit that it did veer off into the realm of the metaphysical and potentially psychotic.  For that reason, you may be interested in watching two more level-headed reviewers discuss the Structure Sensor.

In the Tested video below, Will and Norm demonstrate the Structure Sensor’s abilities: including the Skanect 3D scanning app from Occipital, as well as some of the AR apps that Occipital is working on.

What is missing from their review, and what you’ll get from my psychedelia, is a description of the itSeez3D app, which allowed my wife and I to create some truly realistic scans of our heads. Nevertheless, their review is both extensive and helpful, even if it lacks a 3D printable model of me wearing a lion mask:
