Snapmaker introduces 10W High Power Laser Module and launches Black Friday sale

Shenzhen-based 3D printer provider Snapmaker has released a new 10W High Power Laser Module as an add-on to its 3D printer ecosystem.

Featuring a laser beam combiner, the module is designed to level up customers’ laser cutting and engraving experience on Snapmaker’s machines to improve its efficiency, finesse and range of supported materials. 

Snapmaker has also launched its Black Friday sale, with 3D Printing Industry readers able to take advantage of $100 off orders over $1,100 using the discount code B3DPI100.

The 10W High Power Laser Module

The launch of the 10W High Power Laser Module follows hot on the heels of Snapmaker’s recently unveiled Snapmaker 2.0 AT and F 3D printer models. The new Snapmaker 2.0 AT machines are the latest generation of the firm’s modular 3-in-1 3D printers, while the Snapmaker 2.0 F models offer a more beginner-friendly option that provides greater flexibility to users. 

With its most recently launched 10W High Power Laser Module, Snapmaker is giving its customers the opportunity to enhance their laser cutting and engraving capabilities. The module is compatible with Snapmaker’s 2.0 A250, F250, A350 and F350 and can be deployed for a variety of educational, recreational or prototyping applications. 

Equipped with cutting-edge laser beam splitters, the module’s 10W power capability enables users to experiment with a wider range of materials and projects. The work speed of the laser module can be as high as 6,000 mm per minute while cutting through basswoods – a light soft and easily workable type of wood – as thick as 8 mm. For context, this means the cutting speed of the new 10W module can be up to eight times faster than the 1.6W laser module.

The 10W Laser Module is fitted with a Fast-Axis Collimating (FAC) lens to deliver ultra-fine laser focus of 0.05 mm x 0.3 mm. The higher energy density facilitated by the FAC delivers high-quality laser-worked parts with excellent detail. 

Additionally, the module features an upgraded camera capture, with a unique internal wind channel that provides wind pressure capable of blowing fumes away as the laser beam cuts into the material. The channel directs that fumes directly into the grids of the laser engraving and cutting platform before being channeled out, so that they do not interfere with the laser machining process.

The 10W Laser Module operates on Snapmaker’s Luban software, enabling users to perform simple image transformations, set the right parameters for varying materials, and slice 3D models into laser cuttable vectors. 

The module is also fitted with a gyro sensor that ensures the laser beam does not shine if the module is incorrectly installed or deviates from its designated position, in order to better protect the operator.

To address the reduction in lifespan of the laser diode when exposed to high temperatures for a prolonged period of time, Snapmaker has created the 10W Laser Module with two separate blowing systems for its PCBA and laser diode. The systems ensure the diode is properly cooled after use, extending its lifespan by as much as 10,000 hours.

Whenever its temperature sensor detects a higher than normal working temperature, above 55 degrees celsius, the module automatically stops working until the temperature returns to the normal range. Once this occurs, operators can resume the job using the module’s touchscreen.

The 10W Laser Module is compatible with all Snapmaker 2.0 models aside from the 150, and will be compatible with any of the firm’s upcoming machines. The module can also be used in tandem with the company’s other add-ons, such as the Rotary Module, Emergency Stop Button, Air Purifier, and CAN Hub. 

The 10W High Power Laser Module is priced at $459 and is now available for pre-sale at $399 from Snapmaker’s online store.

Black Friday sale

From the 19th November, Snapmaker customers can take advantage of the company’s Black Friday sale via its online store. The sale ends on Snapmaker’s US and others online store on 2nd December at 23:59 PST, and on 3rd December at 08:59 CET on its EU online store. 

Users can take advantage of a range of deals for its machines, including 10 percent off its recently launched AT models and 15 percent off its F250 and F350 machines. 3D Printing Industry readers can also benefit from $100 off orders over $1,100 with the discount code B3DPI100.

As part of the Black Friday sale, Snapmaker is also hosting a Wheel of Fortune event on its online store where customers can win free machines, including the Snapmaker A250, A150 and Snapmaker Original.
