Raise3D launches its new RMF500 IDEX 3D printer – technical specifications

3D printer manufacturer Raise3D has announced the launch of its new RMF500 3D printer.

The large-format IDEX FFF system is designed to address the need for large industrial-grade parts, offering a build volume of 500 x 500 x 500mm and carbon fiber filament extrusion capabilities.

Primarily intended for functional prototyping and small batch production, the RMF500 aims to combine throughput, precision, and repeatability in one neat package.

Dual extrusion 3D printing with Raise3D

Raise3D has steadily built a name for itself in the FFF 3D printing market, and now offers a wide range of 3D printing products covering everything from dual-extrusion 3D printers to materials and software.

Priced at $3,499, the company’s IDEX E2 system is the most affordable in the product line, featuring a build volume of 330 x 240 x 240mm. On the other hand, the firm’s Pro2 and Pro2 Plus 3D printers are geared more towards the industrial-grade market, offering dual-head printing systems with a maximum build volume of 305 x 305 x 605mm. More recently, the company also launched its Pro3 Series of extrusion-based 3D printers, featuring the smaller Pro3 and the larger-format Pro3 Plus, which sports a build volume measuring 300 x 300 x 605mm.

Raise3D also prides itself on its all-in-one software portfolio designed to integrate all stages of the 3D printing workflow. This includes the ideaMaker slicer, ideaMaker Library, and RaiseCloud print management software.

The Raise3D RMF500

Looking at the RMF500’s tech specs, it’s clear Raise3D hasn’t cut corners when it comes to performance. As well as print speeds of up to 300mm/s, the system boasts an XY resolution of 0.001mm and a Z resolution of just 0.0009765mm. A one-micron closed-loop synchronous control system reduces speed variations to improve precision even further.

The RMF500 also combines a hearty build volume with an IDEX gantry to enable high-volume production runs, meaning users will be able to 3D print two parts simultaneously. All of the printer’s load-bearing structural components are made of hardened steel, allowing the Z-axis to withstand loads of around 100kg. In fact, Raise3D estimates the deflection error of the Z-axis to be 50% lower than that of comparable competitors.

To facilitate those industrial-grade applications, the RMF500 offers a maximum nozzle temperature of 330°C, allowing the system to print with carbon fiber-reinforced composite filaments. Additionally, the machine can also automatically switch between four large 2.5kg material cartridges in the humidity-controlled filament chamber, ensuring minimal interruptions during longer print runs.

On the electronics side, there’s a large 13.3” touchscreen on the front, auto-leveling functionality, and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, LAN, and USB.
