3D Printed Art Goes Huge on Nick Ervink's New Studio Website

When it comes to real artists experimenting with 3D printing, few people have been able to push the limits of the technology as much as Nick Ervink has over the last few years. His art uses 3D printing both as a production method for final pieces and as a prototyping method for giant and geometrically complex outdoor statues. Now, he has launched a completely redesigned studio website which offers a full retrospective on what 3D printed art is and how big it can become.

Last year, Enrvik installed his first big sculpture in The Netherlands. On the occasion of the installation, he also had the opportunity to make a solo exhibition in the center for visual arts in Emmen (The Netherlands). Next to that, he has also installed a large monumental sculpture in Spain, REWAUTAL, commissioned by a private collector.

In Belgium, Nick’s home country, he installed a new sculpture, TIEBLOY, and designed a colorful courtyard named TUOHREM. Last month, many of his works were on display in many different exhibitions within and outside Europe, in locations such as New York, Berlin, and Madrid. Some recent projects include Ars Electronica in Linz (Austria), Laboral in Gijon (Spain), Vormidable in  Den Haag (The Netherlands), Sweet 18 in Ursel (Belgium).

Next up is a solo exhibition in the Paul Valéry museum in Sete (France) next March and a participation at the ‘10 leading contemporary Flemish artists’ Expo in the Embassy in Den Haag (The Netherlands). More exhibits of Ervink’s work will take place in Germany and Arizona for another exhibition.

All of these dates will be updated on the new website, which also includes an ‘on view‘ map with all of Nick’s public sculptures and exhibitions around the world, as well as a collections of the inspiration images that accompany the works. A ‘studio‘ page also offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into Nick Ervink studio and atelier and it is now possible to download a pdf of the studio’s publications, including the book GNI_RI_2014.

It is the next best thing to seeing these amazing works in person and, who knows, maybe one day there will also be a database with some STLs of Nick’s designs that we’ll be able to 3D print at home. Never say never in 3D printing.
