Application & Service Technician/Engineer at EPlus3D
3D printer manufacturer EPlus3D is seeking a new Application & Service Technician/Engineer for its new office near Stuttgart, Germany. The role will involve delivering on-site training for customers, developing customer applications, working with the R&D team to identify potential technology improvements, and providing aftersales support for EPlus3D 3D printers.
Successful applicants will have a technical education in an engineering-related field, an affinity for PC software and hardware, excellent English skills, and a willingness to travel.
3D Printing Technician at Earlens
Earlens, a medical device manufacturer based in Menlo Park, is looking for a new 3D Printing Technician. The role will be a ‘hands-on’ one involving reviewing digital designs, 3D printing prototypes, post-processing 3D printed components, and performing 3D scanning activities.
The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree or higher, experience with 3D printing and 3D scanning technologies, and preferably at least five years of experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.
PhD Research Assistantships at Western University
Western University in London, Ontario, is offering several fully-funded 3D printing PhD lines at its Free Appropriate Sustainability Technology (FAST) Lab.
The university is interested in researching the ways in which open-source RepRap 3D printers can accelerate distributed recycling and additive manufacturing (DRAM). There are several positions open for areas such as the application of AI and machine vision to 3D printing, machine design, and the materials science of recycled polymer, metal, ceramic, and composite feedstocks.
A PhD line offers free tuition and a stipend for four years, even for non-Canadians.
Software Developer at Sintratec
SLS 3D printer manufacturer Sintratec is seeking a new Software Developer to join the firm’s R&D team. The job involves developing and maintaining code for Sintratec’s 3D printers, print preparation software, and printer management cloud infrastructure. The tech stack is as follows: Java for the back-end, Angular for the front-end, AWS for cloud functionality, C/C++ for geometry processing, GNU/Linux for the 3D printers’ OS, and Jenkins and Docker for CI/CD.
Applicants should have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Natural Sciences with extensive experience in at least one OOP language and one of the tech stack areas.
Sales and Marketing Intern at Sintratec (6 – 12 months)
Sintratec is also looking for a new Sales and Marketing Intern to join the team on a 6 – 12 month basis. The role will involves supporting the sales team in day-to-day operations, preparing initial offers, assisting with PhD appearances, identifying new lead sources, and helping out with market analysis.
For this position, Sintratec would like either a business or technical background, excellent communication skills in both German and English, and a willingness to move towards a sales career.
Sigma Labs appoints Jacob Brunsberg as Senior VP
3D printing software developer Sigma Labs has appointed Jacob Brunsberg as its new Senior Vice President. In this role, he’s set to lead the company’s strategic relationships, as well as its product management and marketing programs.
Prior to Sigma Labs, Brunsberg held a series of senior executive positions at GE Additive, the additive manufacturing arm of GE. The most recent of these was as a P&L Leader for GE’s Binder Jet Technology unit, where he was responsible for strategy, development, commercialization, and overall business performance. The years 2017 to 2019 also saw Brunsberg serving as GE’s Sr. Managing Director of the Central Region, a role in which he helped establish the company’s US sales infrastructure after the acquisition of Concept Laser and Arcam.
Mark Ruport, President and CEO of Sigma Labs, stated, “Jacob brings a strong base of additive industry management and sales experience to Sigma Labs. He is well known as an innovator and business builder and is exactly the type of individual we need to round out our superb management team.”
RadTech appoints Cara Bommarito as Sustainability Manager
RadTech, the non-profit organization for Ultraviolet and Electron Beam (UV+EB) technologies, has hired Cara Bommarito as its new Sustainability Manager. In light of the growing interest in UV+EB technologies, the role will involve managing the association’s sustainability and research initiatives.
Bommarito holds a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan in Dearborn, and brings extensive experience in technical and business development to the table. She has previously served in positions at BASF, Fanuc Robotics, and Mabuchi Motors.
“With her terrific, wide-ranging experience, we are excited to have Cara help lead our sustainability efforts,” says Susan Bailey, President of RadTech. “Our technology offers manufacturers a well-established platform to next-generation processes, and with Cara’s insight and management, we have an opportunity to better document the benefits this technology can offer.”
Paragon Medical begins work on new AM facility in Indiana
Medical product provider Paragon Medical has announced the construction of a new additive manufacturing facility in Pierceton, Indiana. Located at the firm’s existing campus, the 34,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility will be dedicated entirely to 3D printing with systems developed by OEM 3D Systems.
An initial investment of $16 million will go into the factory, with an additional expected investment of $19 million over the next five years. The funding will cover the facility, printers, inspection, and any additional support equipment that Paragon will use to vertically integrate additive manufacturing into its day-to-day workflows. Although the facility will initially focus of 3D printing titanium implants, the firm intends to expand into other metals and polymers for more advanced medical device applications.
“Indiana’s reputation as the Orthopedics Capital of the World continues to grow thanks to companies like Paragon Medical,” said David Rosenberg, Executive Vice President for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). “Their commitment to growing in the Hoosier state shows the confidence Paragon Medical has in our business-friendly environment and talent pipeline, and we look forward to continuing to work with the company as they continue to grow in Indiana.”
Forward AM establishes AM Applications Technology Center in Detroit
Forward AM, the 3D printing arm of chemicals company BASF, has opened a new Additive Manufacturing Applications Technology Center (ATC) in Detroit, together with Michigan State University. The ATC will act as a technical hub to help foster 3D printing innovation with the firm’s customers in North America.
Specifically, the ATC will offer a set of value-added technical services such as predictive modeling, all in a bid to improve innovation potential for customers. Forward AM has already installed more than 20 3D printers at the center, including SLS, SLA, and FDM systems.
François Minec, Managing Director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions, said, “With this step, we are significantly strengthening our offerings in North America. By collaborating with Michigan State University, we create a unique combination of science and industry expertise – ideal conditions to drive innovation in Additive Manufacturing together with our customers.”
