Uniformity Labs bolsters sales capabilities with new hires

Materials developer Uniformity Labs has strengthened its sales and marketing capabilities with the hire of John Baliotti and Harry Danford as Sales Directors.

With his foundations in engineering, Baliotti began his career at Sikorsky Aircraft as a design/analytical engineer before going on to hold roles at FIT America, part of the German FIT Additive Manufacturing Group, and binder jet 3D printer manufacturer ExOne. Baliotti joins Uniformity Labs from Carpenter Additive, the 3D printer materials business of US metal alloy manufacturer Carpenter Technology, where he focused on accelerating the adoption of 3D printing for the industrial, energy and transportation sectors.

Danford also had a stint at ExOne as Americas Sales Director covering the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil markets. He went on to hold a senior sales position at AddUp Global Additive Solutions, a French industrial 3D printer provider, before joining Uniformity Labs.

“Harry and John add substantially to our sales and marketing capabilities,” said Walt Tersigni, VP of Sales at Uniformity Labs. “Their industry experience is unparalleled and together provide a unique skillset combining engineering, manufacturing, business development, and in John’s case from his years as an industrial research analysis.

“The team has hit the ground running, and we are focused on helping customers unlock the value of Uniformity Labs’ technology.”

Arkema to begin production of new bio-factory in Singapore

Moving onto facility news, and advanced materials firm Arkema has confirmed it is on track to begin production at its new plant on Jurong Island, Singapore, in the first half of next year.

The company claims that, when complete, the site will be the largest integrated bio-factory in the world dedicated to high-performance polymers. Arkema will begin production of its flagship bio-based high-performance Rilsan PA11 polymer at the new plant in 2022, for which production will reportedly be 100 percent derived from renewable castor beans.

The company has invested a total of $545 million in the region, having successfully placed its first green bond in October for a total of $363 million to finance the plant, which will enable a 50 percent increase in Arkema’s global PA11 capacity.

“We are excited to maintain the momentum and speed of construction,” said Erwoan Pezron, Senior Vice President, High Performance Polymers at Arkema. “After facing early challenges due to the global pandemic, we are operating at full strength and are now entering the peak construction phase with an estimated 2,000 workers on-site during the summer months.”
