Engineering Director, ExOne, North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania
Binder jet 3D printing specialist ExOne is seeking an Engineering Director for its headquarters in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Responsible for the company’s strategy concerning direct metal 3D printers, the successful applicant will be required to oversee the design and development of capital equipment that meets high customer satisfaction and technical standards. A team manager, the Engineering Director will also help recruit and grow the capabilities of employees, define objectives, and develop plans to bridge any gaps that should arise in team skillets. Budgeting, capital appropriation and application of company policies are also required as necessary.

Service Technician 1 – PSC, ExOne, North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania
In addition to engineering roles, ExOne’s North Huntingdon facility currently requires a Service Technician to provide maintenance and repair for 3D printers, industrial furnaces, and various other production machines. This includes preventative maintenance for the company’s systems including the M-Flex, Innovent, R2 and M-Print.
Within this role, personnel will be expected to adhere to all appropriate safety and OSHA requirements including ISO quality procedures. Weekend on-call duty will also be required as necessary. In return, the prospective employee will benefit from a comprehensive compensation and benefit program.

Corporate Controller (Global), ExOne, North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania
In one further current vacancy from ExOne the company is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead its global accounting and finance teams. This individual will be responsible for the overall completion and administration of SEC filings and external financial reporting (Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K) including XBRL requirements. Specific expertise in areas including ASC 606 (revenue) and ASC 718 (equity-based compensation) is required.

Metal Additive Manufacturing Technician, Uniformity Labs, Fremont, California
A budding startup in the East Bay area, Uniformity Labs is seeking a person with hands-on experience of manufacturing equipment to join its team as a Metal Additive Manufacturing Technician. Direct experience with 3D printers is not essential, but familiarity with common lab safety procedure and a deep interest in additive manufacturing is crucial to securing the position. Candidates with a High School Diploma/GED are accepted but a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area is preferred.
Day-to-day roles will include the full support of the print process, from loading and operation, through to part processing. The employer is also specifically looking for those with a high attention to detail to take on this position.

Evonik highlights promise of 3D printing in largest site investment to date
New opportunities could be coming soon to the North-West Germany. Speciality chemicals producer Evonik has just broken ground for a new polyamide 12 (PA12) production plant. Scheduled for completion in 2021, the facility will be the company’s largest site to date, expanding overall PA12 manufacturing capacity by 50 percent.
“This is the biggest single investment our company has made in Germany,” comments Christian Kullmann, the chairman of the executive board of Evonik Industries AG. “We’re building this plant because we want to continue to grow with innovative specialty chemical products.”
“With our high-performance polymer PA 12 we can supply global strategic growth markets such as 3D printing.”
“But also in the automotive industry, our light-weight and long-lasting plastic makes an important contribution to resource efficiency.”
Fraunhofer ILT takes on new leadership
Elsewhere in Germany Dr. Constantin Häfner, a renowned laser physicist, has become the new director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT.
Located in Aachen, Fraunhofer ILT has made significant contributions to the ongoing development of additive manufacturing technologies. It is home to the futureAM project, and is also leading BMW Group’s “Industrialization and Digitization of Additive Manufacturing (AM) for Automotive Series Processes” (IDAM) initiative, among other groundbreaking research.
“Fraunhofer ILT sets international standards in training of future laser scientists and engineers for both industry and the research community,” commented Dr. Häfner on his directorial appointment. “It is important to me that we integrate and promote people of different genders, origins and cultures with their many different points of view,”
