Evolve Additive Solutions adds Volker Hammes and Andreas Saar to Board of Directors
3D printer producer Evolve Additive has announced two additions to its Board of Directors, bringing the total number of board members to seven. Managing Director BASF New Business, Volker Hammes, joins the board alongside Andreas Saar, Vice President of Manufacturing Engineering Solutions at Siemens Digital Industries Software.
Hammes is Chairman of BASF 3D Printing Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BASF New Business, and will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Evolve’s board. Presently, his responsibilities at BASF include the business build up of innovative material solutions such as E-Power Management, Functional Feed Additives, and 3D Printing.
“We are pleased to welcome Volker, his deep experience in additive manufacturing will be invaluable to Evolve as we grow our business and pursue our mission of enabling our customers to manufacture in revolutionary new ways,” said Steve Chillscyzn, Co-founder and CEO of Evolve.
Meanwhile, the Board’s second appointment, Saar, boasts a 37-year career in the manufacturing industry, having inaugurated and led the Additive Manufacturing Program at Siemens Digital Industries Software. According to Evolve, Saar will provide valuable direction, guidance, and strategy of Industry 4.0 and digital front-end technology.
“I am honored to join the Board of Directors for Evolve as a strong believer in Evolve’s approach to additive part production,” commented Saar. “Evolve’s Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process (STEP) automation potential and integration into industrial production environments are real game changers for the industry on its way up to large volume additive production.”
ASTM Board welcomes Boeing’s Christopher R. Reid
Standards developer ASTM International has announced Christopher R. Reid will serve a three-year term on the organization’s Board of Directors, made up of 25 leaders from a variety of companies, associations, and government bodies across the globe.
Reid is an Associate Technical Fellow in human factors and ergonomics for Boeing’s Environment, Health, and Safety organization, and also sits on several committees and subcommittees overseeing manufacturing technologies, exoskeletons and exosuits, and human factors and ergonomics, among others.
An ASTM member since 2017, Reid is also part of the Exo Technology Center of Excellence (ET CoE) Research and Development Board.
PostProcess hires Jim Kent to Chief Financial Officer
Elsewhere, automated post-processing system manufacturer PostProcess Technologies has appointed Jim Kent to the role of Chief Financial Officer, who joins the firm from his role as CFO of automated software provider ICONICS.
Leading PostProcess’ accounting and finance functions, Kent will be an instrumental member of the senior leadership team tasked with driving the firm’s triple-digit growth strategy. Prior to his role at ICONICS, Kent worked as a CFO for NetBrain Technologies and as Director of International Finance and operations for The MathWorks. In his current role with PostProcess, he will be based in Boston where he will work alongside VP of Product, Rich Caplow.
“With extensive experience in building and leading international teams, as well as guiding three different software companies through scale-up and acquisition, we are thrilled to have someone with Jim’s impressive track record of execution and results joining our team,” said Jeff Mize, PostProcess CEO. “Jim’s extensive experience in developing and deploying SaaS business models comes at a critical time as we connect the end-to-end digital thread to accelerate the use of additive manufacturing in production applications.”
Dr. Rami El Assal joins PrinterPrezz Board of Directors
Medical 3D printing bureau PrinterPrezz has appointed Dr. Rami El Assal, Managing General Partner and Co-founder of Boutique Venture Partners (BVP), to its Board of Directors.
BVP specializes in early-stage investments in life sciences and healthcare, with a focus on firms developing novel approaches within these areas that hold solid intellectual property (IP) and have significant growth potential. Assal is a scientist-clinician trained at Harvard and Stanford Medical Schools, and used 3D printing for various medical applications during his time as a Research Scientist at Stanford.
“While a hallmark of our investments has typically been a more informal advisor role, today I am pleased to accept the formal appointment to PrinterPrezz’s Board of Directors,” he said. “As someone who was scientifically trained and published in the field of 3D printing, I look forward to lending my experience, professional network, and insights to help PrinterPrezz realize the technical disruption and positive societal impact we believe Shri and the team will deliver.”
Furthermore, Dr. S. Thaddeus Connelly, fellow General Partner and Co-founder of BVP, will be joining PrinterPrezz and a Board Observer.
