Memjet tech to help XYZprinting to the top?

XYZprinting, one of the world’s biggest 3D printer suppliers, has adopted Memjet’s patented printhead technology for its consumer range.

Memjet’s Waterfall Printhead technology is designed to increase the speed and affordability of general printing and this is the first time that it has actually been employed in a 3D environment. The first unit will make its debut on the Memjet stand at drupa 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany. It could represent a significant step for the industry as a whole if the printers prove reliable and cost-effective.

Up to five times faster printing

The printheads should help XYZprinting increase the speed of its powder-based 3D printing, as these heads allow the printer to operate up to 500% faster than other solutions. They also reduce the price of each job.

Memjet’s system fires millions of droplets of ink each and every second. This company has 3500 global patents for this system alone and it has helped Memjet become a major player with other patents for page-wide color print technology that takes the consumer market to new levels of speed and efficiency.

With headquarters in San Diego, it now has offices in Sydney, Singapore, Dublin, Taipei and Idaho to support its own global push.

3D printing is on the up

Worldwide 3D printing shipments increased by 30% during the course of the year, according to global research consultancy CONTEXT, and XYZprinting wants to establish itself as a global force at the peak. It already has an impressive array of consumer printers and scanners, but with the addition of Memjet technology then it could steal a march on the competition.

Simon Shen, CEO of XYZprinting and its parent company, New Kinpo Group, said: “The past year has been a time of growth both for 3D printing and for XYZprinting. We introduced several 3D printer models at the CES 2016 show, and will launch the new da Vinci Mini Series 3D printer and 3D pen this summer.

“Our partnership with Memjet enables us to build on this success, giving us the technology we need to dramatically enhance the speed and economy of our business-class solutions.”

Len Lauer, chairman and CEO of Memjet, added: “XYZprinting has a strong reputation for delivering 3D products that are accessible, high quality, and easy-to-use. Memjet shares a similar reputation for the way our printheads have transformed traditional printing processes.

“Bringing the power of the XYZprinting organization together with Memjet technology creates a disruptive new solution that enables a whole new group of businesses to benefit from the potential of 3D printing. We are looking forward to presenting this exciting new development at drupa 2016.”
