This balance is intended to ensure the awards can scrutinise the whole 3D printing ecosystem and reduce the influence of popularity alone, grounding decisions in technical merit, market impact, and long-term contribution to the industry.

Dr. Patrick Pradel is Senior Lecturer in Digital Design and Manufacturing at Loughborough University’s School of Design and Creative Arts, focusing on digital fabrication and automated industrial design. He has led the EPSRC-funded UK Design for AM Network and the AHRC project “When Design Never Ends”; and currently leads the MSc Integrated Industrial Design program, preparing future design leaders.

Bob Renella is the Regional Engineering Manager for North America and a leader in additive manufacturing, 3D scanning, and metrology. With 15+ years of experience in product development, quality, and process optimization, he leads a national team of Application Engineers supporting customers in aerospace, automotive, medical, energy, and consumer products. Kevin Hanley has 30 years of industry experience with core competencies around Product Development, Manufacturing Improvement, and Quality Assurance products. Very familiar with the market and landscape for 3D solid modeling, analysis and enterprise-wide data management, 3D printing, and 3D scanning tools (for both Reverse Engineering and Metrology). Kevin recently took the role of Senior Divisional Manager to help build GoEngineer’s Metal Additive division with bringing Bright Laser Technologies to North America.

As a Researcher, Educator, and Training Consultant, he connects advanced technology with high-performing teams. His research spans two streams: Additive Manufacturing (melt-pool mapping, lattice structures, renewable energy components) and Advanced Material Design (lightweight composites for armour, ultra-low friction composites for offshore casing operation, and non-hot-work polymers for marine repair). As an educator with a PhD in mechanical engineering, he focuses on engaging with industry to drive high-impact solutions and translating that exposure into my teaching to produce high-value graduates. Farhana Mohd Foudzi (PhD) is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained a Doctoral Degree (DEng) in Materials Engineering from Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Japan, in 2016. Her current areas of expertise are metal additive manufacturing (AM) or known as metal 3D printing using laser powder bed fusion / selective laser melting technologies, multi-materials additive manufacturing (MMAM), shape memory alloy (SMA) additive manufacturing, powder injection molding, and control / monitoring systems using ultrasonic (NDT). She is very active in engaging with AM industries via collaborations and research projects / grants. She is also very active in applying and obtaining research funds from the university, Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and international levels. Her current administrative position is the Editor-in-Chief of Jurnal Kejuruteraan UKM since May 2023. Mr. Michaud is President and CEO of REM Surface Engineering, where he works closely with the Research Team, supports REM’s government projects and awards, where he has overseen the successful execution of multiple NASA, Air Force, and DOE programs, and focuses heavily on REM’s surface finishing solutions for metal additive manufacturing applications. Dr. Stefan Bindl is Director Engineering and CTO at AM Turbines GmbH, where he focuses on serial manufacturing with metal 3D printing for advanced turbomachinery applications. Trained as an aeronautics and astronautics engineer, he built his early career around full-engine testing and compressor instabilities and later became a professor of aircraft propulsion at the Universität der Bundeswehr München, publishing extensively on gas turbine dynamics.

Andrew Thompson, Manager, Additive Manufacturing CoE, Northrop Grumman
Andrew L. Thompson is the additive manufacturing deputy chief engineer responsible for the development and implementation of additive manufacturing technologies. He has over eight years of experience in the aerospace industry focused on designing, developing and utilizing aerospace components and systems, as well as expertise in AM techniques for manufacturing these components. Prior to his current position, Thompson was the design engineer responsible for managing AI&T operations for an engineering unit. Carl is a Professor of Innovative Manufacturing, the Director of PrintCity at Manchester Metropolitan University, a state-of-the-art 3D printing facility with over 90 printers across 7 different technologies. He is the Faculty of Science and Engineering Theme Lead for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. He has an industrial background having worked in the automotive sector for over 12 years in manufacturing.
His PhD students and MSc students work on additive manufacturing and digital connectivity-related projects with Industry sponsorship in many cases. Dr Adrian Bowyer MBE BSc(Eng) PhD CEng CMath CITP ACGI MBCS FIMA FRSA is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Humanitarian Technology Trust and works with the Center for Bits and Atoms at MIT on an ARIA-funded Nature Computes Better project. He serves on the Faculty of the Fab Academy and is a founder and director of RepRap Ltd, the company established to advance research in self-replicating open-source 3D printing. After studying mechanical engineering and completing a PhD in tribology at Imperial College London, he joined the University of Bath in 1977 to research stochastic computational geometry, later becoming Head of the Microprocessor Unit and then a lecturer and senior lecturer in manufacturing within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Since leaving the university in 2012, he has focused on writing, the RepRap Project, and his current advisory and research roles.
Dr Bowyer’s research spans tribology, geometric modelling and computation (including co-developing the Bowyer–Watson algorithm for Voronoi diagrams), computer-aided manufacturing, smart hydrophilic-polymer gels, and biomimetics with an emphasis on self-assembly and self-copying. He is best known as the originator of the global RepRap Project, which created the world’s first general-purpose self-replicating 3D printer and is widely credited with sparking the low-cost 3D-printer revolution. His contributions have been recognised with the 3D Printing Industry Outstanding Contribution Award (2017), induction into the 3D Printing Hall of Fame (2017), and appointment as MBE in the 2019 New Year’s Honours.
