Massivit announces Massivit 5000 ultra-large-format 3D printer – technical specifications and pricing

Industrial 3D printer manufacturer Massivit 3D has announced the launch of its latest ultra-large-format 3D printer, following its recent listing on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

The Massivit 5000, set to be unveiled in person at AMUG 2021 in Florida, is primarily aimed at manufacturers and service providers seeking large photopolymer part production for industries such as automotive, marine, and railway. With a build volume measuring 1450 x 1110 x 1800mm, the Massivit 5000 reportedly delivers up to 30x the throughput when compared to existing manufacturing technologies.

Erez Zimerman, CEO of Massivit 3D, said, “We are thrilled to bring to market this new additive manufacturing system that will empower manufacturers to overcome existing limitations in production speed, size, and complexity. It is a significant milestone on our roadmap towards transforming manufacturing of large parts across multiple industries.”

Large part 3D printing with Massivit

Founded in 2013 and based in the Israeli city of Lod, Massivit specializes in large-format systems operating on the company’s proprietary Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) technology. A cross between FFF and material jetting, the process works by extruding photopolymer gels at high-speeds before curing them into solid layers under UV light. The result is the production of large, mostly support-free parts suitable for prototyping and industrial tooling applications.

The flagship Massivit 1800, offered with either one or two printheads, features a build volume measuring 1450 x 1110 x 1800mm. Similarly, the Massivit 1800 Pro offers rapid print speeds of 300mm/s. The company’s latest system – the Massivit 10000 – is set to be launched in fall 2021 and will address the needs of automotive and aerospace tooling companies.

The Massivit 5000

Based on the company’s tried-and-tested GDP technology, the Massivit 5000 is designed to usher in a new set of high-performance printing capabilities. One of the key new features is the machine’s Dual Material System, which enables users to 3D print two different parts using two different materials at the same time. Each of the printheads can also be configured to have different printing resolutions, allowing for print speed to be prioritized in the case of a high-volume project.

The company is also introducing two new print modes that users can leverage – Fast mode and HD mode. The former, which prints with thicker layers, is to be used for maximum throughput (300mm/s) while the latter is recommended for high-performance parts where dimensional precision is crucial.

Furthermore, the Massivit 5000 comes complete with a new automated print monitoring system, which essentially points a camera at the two printheads. Mid-build, the printer’s software has the power to modify print parameters like the layer height and part resolution in real time, optimizing both print speed and print quality where required. As such, sections of a part that need to be printed in a higher resolution can be fabricated with more care.

Finally, Massivit is also launching a new printing gel for use with the Massivit 5000. Named DIMENGEL 110, the material is reportedly designed to facilitate high-definition printing and greater fidelity to CAD designs.
