Jason Lopes of Legacy Effects and Rachel Park of 3D Printing Industry Perform the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS

Yesterday, the Ice Bucket Challenge continued in the 3D printing universe when CEO of Mcor, Conor MacCormack, called out three more players in the industry to join in.  While we’re still waiting for Avi Reichental, CEO of 3D Systems, and Scott Crump, founder of Stratasys, a third party invited to raise awareness for ALS and donate money to its research did his part. Namely,  Jason Lopes, Lead Systems Engineer for the Hollywood FX firm known for its affinity for 3D scanning and 3D printing, Legacy Effects, who performed the Ice Bucket Challenge.  He subsequently nominated three more members of the 3D printing community to take part.

From the video, you’ll hear that Lopes is donating money to ALS research and that he has nominated the following people to do the same: CEO of MakerBot, Bre Pettis; Head of Rapid Prototyping at IPF, Gary Miller, and our very own Editor, Rachel Park. Rachel has already responded to the request, inviting two more members of the 3D printing industry two perform the Ice Bucket Challenge and pointing out to Jason that the weather, and, therefore, the water is “A LOT colder in North Wales than it is in CA ;-))”.  And you can tell just how cold it is, when you hear Rachel gasp in the video below:

Rachel is continuing the trend by nominating Jeremy Pullin, Rapid Manufacturing Manager at Renishaw PLC, and Dave Price, Rapid Manufacturing Sales Manager at Laser Lines. You can donate to the ALS Association, too, here.
