Fill your 3D printer with color – Fillamentum introduces 12 new shades of CPE HG100

Czech 3D printer materials brand Fillamentum has released a bunch of new filament colors to experiment with in the workshop. The tough, high-technical CPE HG100 co-polymer range is available in 12 new shades: from Mistake Blue Metallic and Lemonade Translucent, through to the popular Vertigo Grey.

A proud introduction to the company’s growing material offering, these vibrant and varied additions give customers the choice of more than 20 different shades within the CPE category alone. As a modified form of PETG, this material is also impact resistant, with excellent chemical resistance and good tensile strength, making it suitable for a variety of end-use purposes.

Stepping up your 3D printer game

In comparison to common 3D printer filaments ABS and PLA, CPE has the upper hand when it comes to strength and resistance. Fillamentum CPE HG100 has a tensile strength of 47 MPa (at yield) and 150% elongation at break, whereas Fillamentum ABS Extrafill, for example, has a tensile strength of 39 MPa and 20% elongation at break.

Further, under the Izod impact strength test, heated to 23°C CPE HG100 experiences no break. It has a flexural modulus of 1860 MPa and a flexural strength of 71 MPa, below its derivative PETG (typically 77 MPa) proving the material’s higher rigidity.

Despite its high strength, CPE HG100 does feature a malleability comparable to lower-strength filaments. According to Fillamentum, the material provides, “Good interlayer adhesion, no odour, low warping” and is “as easy to print as PLA.” It is also bio-based, like PLA, and can be recycled if melted down.

Creativity in color

Many of the CPE HG100 colors offered by Fillamentum are transparent or metallic due to the material’s inherent high gloss and clarity. In thin wall prints, for example, internal features are viewable from outside the object, and objects in metallic appear shiny.

In true Fillamentum style, each color is also accompanied by an illustrative, and often playful name. The complete list of new colors is as follows:

– Grey Mouse Transparent
– Army Green
– Caramel Brown Metallic
– Flirty Plum
– Jungle Green Metallic
– Lagoon Transparent
– Lemonde Translucent
– Mistake Blue Metallic
– Pistachio Green
– UFO Blue Metallic
– Vertigo Grey
– Flash Yellow Metallic

All colors used in CPE HG100 have been certified for food contact by Fillamentum. The material is not, however, RoHS compliant and cannot be used in electrical applications.

To 3D print using CPE HG100, the company recommends a print temperature of between 225 and 275 °C, and bed temperature of between 70 and 85 °C (dependent on the machine and object in question.) For bed adhesion, it is recommended to use Magigoo. Customers should also be careful when storing CPE HG100 as it is moisture sensitive. When not in use it should be stored in a protective bag. Any excessive stringing in a part could be caused by excessive moisture.

Choose your favorite color from the CPE HG100 range now at Fillamentum. All filaments are available in 1.75 and 2.85 spools, priced at €34.99 each.
