Farsoon launches its new FS273M metal 3D printer – technical specifications and pricing

Powder bed fusion 3D printer manufacturer Farsoon has announced the launch of its new FS273M metal 3D printing system.

Intended as a successor to the previously launched FS271M, the FS273M comes in both a single and dual laser configuration and sports a build volume measuring 275 x 275 x 355mm. According to the firm, the 3D printer is designed to combine productivity with cost-efficiency, giving manufacturers in sectors such as tooling and automotive a powerful production tool compatible with a wide range of metal powder materials.

“Farsoon’s latest FS273M is the next generation of our medium-sized metal system FS271M, which was first introduced to market in 2015,” said Don Xu, Director of Farsoon Global Business Group. “We’ve spent the past 6 years optimizing the productivity and performance of the machine through continuous collaboration with our industrial partners. We keep pushing the true industrialization of metal additive manufacturing by reducing customers’ operation costs, especially for tight margin industries like molds & tooling.”

Metal and polymer 3D printing with Farsoon

Based in China and founded in 2009, Farsoon is one of the bigger names in the powder bed fusion space. The company has built a name for itself with an extensive portfolio of polymer and metal 3D printers, and continues to expand its global customer base.

In 2017, Farsoon established Farsoon Technologies-Americas in Austin, Texas, and launched its first set of systems under the Continuous Additive Manufacturing Solution (CAMS) name. This included the firm’s largest polymer system to date, the HT1001P with a build volume of 225 liters. A year later, in 2018, the firm expanded to Europe with the establishment of Farsoon Europe GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany.

The company’s metal 3D printer range also includes the FS721M, FS421M, FS301M, and FS121M.

The FS273M 3D printer

The new FS273M comes complete with several new feature upgrades designed to streamline the metal 3D printing process. An all-new recoater design combined with a revamped communication signal control system allows for stable and reliable powder delivery throughout the entire build process. Looking at the optics, there’s now a high-precision digital galvo system and ‘truly open’ parameters, giving users full control over the workflow.

The dual-laser configuration of the FS273M offers up to twice the build rate of the single laser one, although both are compatible with the full range of industrial metal powders. This includes 316L stainless steel, Titanium-64, Inconel 718, pure copper, tungsten, and more.

Additionally, the machine features an integrated filtration system designed to extend the operation time for longer builds and reduce the frequency of filter changes, saving on costs for the user. According to Farsoon, the FS273M also offers a preheatable base plate, removable overflow containers, and a large powder supply chamber.
