FARO Technologies and Creaform, both businesses of AMETEK, have announced a consolidation of their operations that will form two new business units: FARO CREAFORM and FARO INSIGHT. The reorganization, announced on January 13, 2026, combines FARO’s 3D Measurement business segment with Creaform, while FARO’s reality capture segment becomes a separate unit focused on data-driven insight across construction, public safety, and geospatial markets.
As part of the consolidation, FARO’s 3D Measurement business and Creaform will operate together under FARO CREAFORM. The new unit is designed to deliver portable and automated dimensional measurement solutions for manufacturing and maintenance teams, providing a single point of contact across the combined portfolio. FARO INSIGHT will operate in parallel, focusing on reality capture technologies that transform physical environments into trusted digital data.

Two focused units targeting metrology and reality capture
FARO CREAFORM will be led by Fanny Truchon and aims to make metrology more mobile, usable, and transformative for manufacturers. According to the company, the unit is intended to improve customer outcomes and accelerate decision-making by combining the strengths of both organizations’ measurement technologies.
“FARO CREAFORM is more than a consolidation,” said Truchon, Business Unit Manager of FARO CREAFORM. “By combining the strength of two leaders, we’re opening possibilities that will empower industries to move from hindsight to foresight. FARO CREAFORM aims to become the undisputed leader in portable metrology.”
FARO INSIGHT will be led by Dietmar Wennemer, alongside Virtek Vision, and will focus on delivering a reality-capture ecosystem that supports digital-twin workflows. The unit’s scope includes data capture, point cloud conversion, data management, and sharing across architecture, engineering, construction and operations, as well as public safety and geospatial applications.
“Our hardware and software solutions reduce ambiguity to help track building progress, document changes, and digitize environments such as crime scenes, infrastructure, and landscapes,” said Wennemer, Business Unit Manager at FARO INSIGHT.
Building on established metrology and scanning portfolios
The consolidation builds on FARO’s more than 40 years of experience in 3D measurement and reality capture, and Creaform’s handheld metrology innovation since its founding in 2002. According to the companies, the new structure is intended to ensure continuity, improve clarity for customers and partners, and support long-term growth through increased focus and operational alignment.
FARO CREAFORM will operate with headquarters in Lévis, Québec, Canada, and Lake Mary, Florida, while FARO INSIGHT will be headquartered in Korntal, Germany. Both business units will continue to operate as part of AMETEK, which reported annual sales of over $7.5 billion.
Creaform software and scanner launches point to deeper metrology integration
This consolidation follows recent product and software developments from Creaform aimed at expanding its metrology ecosystem. Last year, Creaform introduced Creaform.OS and the Creaform Metrology Suite, positioning the platform as a unified software environment designed to streamline data acquisition, inspection, and workflow integration across its hardware portfolio.
The company has also expanded its handheld scanning lineup with the launch of the HandySCAN 3D|EVO series, targeting faster measurement speeds, improved portability, and shop-floor usability for industrial inspection applications. Together, these moves signaled a broader push toward tighter hardware-software integration and more scalable metrology workflows.
