China’s No. 1 Formula Electric Team Releases 2021 New Cars – With UnionTech 3D Printing

On October 15, Tongji University DIAN Racing (“TJU DIAN Racing”), China’s No.1 formula E team, unveiled its new car for the 2021 season. UnionTech used its SLA printing technology to help TJU DIAN Racing complete the production of 56 parts. UnionTech was invited to participate in the new product launch event and appreciated the new car. The new car, named DRe21, will take part in the “NIO” Formula Student Electric China (FSEC) to be held in November along with the team members.

DRe21 is a single-seat FSEC racing car jointly built by more than 100 members of TJU DIAN Racing. The new car combines the design of the past with many innovative elements. DRe21 adopts the carbon fiber monocoque body, supplemented by carbon fiber aerodynamics suite, which makes the total weight of the car reach 195kg, reducing the weight by 5% compared with the previous generation. In terms of the power, it adopts four-wheel independent hub motor, which can achieve an equivalent thrust-weight ratio of 450 HP/t under the power limit of 80kW as specified by rules, and can also complete dynamic torque transfer, drive the anti-skid and brake energy recovery under the control of the main control program. The decoupled suspension and multiple derivative design structure of the chassis also stand out.

All the 56 part refits of DRe21 were completed by UnionTech through its SLA printing technology, including front wing, tail wing, side wing, dashboard, etc.

After the unveiling of the new car DRe21, UnionTech also provided a dynamic display for us. The driver controlled the car and demonstrated various road conditions including combination turns, S-shaped slalom, elk test, hairpin turns and high-speed turns. The performance of the car was recognized and praised by many sponsors present at the scene.
