Dutch 3D printer manufacturer Builder has unveiled the latest addition to its Extreme 3D printer range, the Extreme 1500 HC (Heated Chamber).
Launching next week at Formnext 2021 in Frankfurt, the Extreme 1500 HC is an FFF-based large-scale 3D printer specifically geared for printing industrial-grade materials like ABS, ASA, PET-G and PAHT CF15.
Builder will present various samples printed on the Extreme 1500 HC at its booth at the show, and has already opened up pre-orders for the machine.
Builder’s 3D printer portfolio
Known for its professional and affordable large-format FFF machines, Builder initially entered the 3D printing sector with its Dual-Feed and Big Builder systems before upgrading its machines with its Builder Premium line.
The following year, the firm released its Builder Extreme 2000 3D printer, capable of printing a life-size replica of Superman, and its half-size sister model, the Extreme 1000. Shortly after, the Extreme 1500 was launched, which offered the big-build volume synonymous with Builder, but with a slimmer frame and on wheels, meaning users could take their printing on the go.
Since then, Builder’s machines have been deployed for a number of large-scale additive manufactured applications. Bathroom appliance manufacturer Saneux has leveraged the Extreme 1000 to 3D print 1:1 scale prototypes of its washbasins, faucets, and shower valves, and the Extreme 2000 was deployed to 3D print the world’s tallest Empire State building, standing at 1800 mm.
At Formnext 2018, Builder released its 2000 Pro machine which at the time was claimed to be the firm’s “most advanced large-scale 3D printer yet.” The most recent development from the firm came in 2019, where its Extreme 1500 PRO was used to help reconstruct a 67 million-year-old dinosaur skeleton for the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands.
The Builder Extreme 1500 HC
The latest addition to Builder’s Extreme 3D printer range is the Extreme HC, which as the name suggests features a heated build chamber. Coupled with a build volume of 1100 x 500 x 820, the machine enables large-scale 3D printing with industrial-grade materials like PET-G, ABS, ASA, PC, CF15, and more.
The Extreme 1500 HC’s extruder has a maximum temperature of 300 degrees celsius and is water-cooled, while the heated chamber is heated up to 70 degrees celsius in order to facilitate the easier printing of materials such as ABS and ASA.
Capable of printing up to 200 millimeters per second depending on part geometry and size, the printer has a mono printhead with three nozzle diameters, 0.4 mm, 0.8 mm, and 1.2 mm. The machine also features a 7-inch full-color touchscreen display and an onboard camera to enable users to watch their prints live from their desktop or mobile devices.
Pre-order for the Builder Extreme 1500 HC 3D printer is now open, with availability from Q1 2022. Those heading to Formnext next week will be able to see samples printed on the machine in a range of different materials
