Korean eyewear brand Breezm is bringing its 3D scanned, custom-fit glasses nationwide in the U.S. through its iPhone app, Breezm: Eyewear Made for You. Using facial scanning and AI-driven recommendations, the app adjusts frame sizing and pupillary alignment to ensure comfort and precision, letting customers choose from 80 frame styles and a variety of lenses—including progressive, reading, prescription, or sunglasses—delivered directly to their door.

Over the past two years in New York City, we’ve seen just how many people struggle with glasses that simply don’t fit—frames that slide, pinch, or feel uncomfortable no matter how stylish they are. Launching nationwide means we can finally meet that demand and serve customers across the country, wherever they are. Because everyone deserves glasses that fit well—and look good,” said Chief Business Development Officer Silja Kim Bast.

Personalized Fit with 3D Scanning and AI
Using the iPhone camera, the app captures facial measurements by analyzing distances between key points. Breezm’s AI Fit Finder then recommends the frame that best suits the customer’s face and adjusts the sizing accordingly. Shoppers can choose color options and a range of lenses, including progressive, reading, prescription, or sunglasses. Once selected, the glasses can be delivered directly to the customer.
The company relies on advanced industrial 3D printing, producing each frame through its proprietary additive manufacturing process. Having already created 90,000 custom frames, the company states that large-scale, fully personalized eyewear is not only achievable but also commercially viable, maintaining high quality and consistent results.

“Customers can now order eyewear that is literally built for their unique face — no store visit required. It’s one of the most exciting applications of digital fabrication, bridging on-device scanning, parametric design, and additive manufacturing into a seamless consumer experience,” said CEO Zenma Hyungjin Park.

While Breezm’s technology demonstrates the potential for nationwide personalized eyewear, practical constraints remain. Regulatory requirements for prescriptions, the accuracy limits of mobile scanning compared to traditional in-store fittings, and the economics of mass customization all influence the model’s scalability and defensibility.
3D Printing and Custom Eyewear
The global eyewear industry is projected to reach nearly $300 billion by 2030, growing at around 8.4% annually, according to HP. Growth is fueled by aging populations, wider access to eye care, and increasing consumer demand for personalized products. Yet traditional frame manufacturing faces challenges: high production costs due to skilled labor and materials, limited options, and strict regulatory requirements. While conventional injection molding is efficient for large-scale production, it struggles to accommodate individual customization, leaving room for AM solutions.
3D printed eyewear allows brands to offer personalized fit, a wider variety of styles and materials, and faster turnaround times, helping reduce returns caused by misfit or prescription errors. Breezm leverages HP’s Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) to create fully personalized frames at scale, while Tech Print Industries (TPI) also uses HP MJF for on-demand frame production and virtual try-on through its web-based Design Gallery. Spectra Additive, on the other hand, uses DLP printing with Henkel’s Loctite 3D MED9851 resin to produce biocompatible, high-precision frames at industrial scale.
