Arduino Turns Making Mainstream with Arduino Studio

So many Maker projects use Arduino products in tandem with 3D printing and this bit of Arduino news may affect the way that Makers program the open source board for their 3D printers. Arduino.org has announced the release of Arduino Studio, a simple, versatile, and practical open source integrated development environment dedicated to the Arduino programming language.

Arduino Studio enables users to take advantage of Adobe open source Brackets text editor and all of its potential. Available for all of the big operating systems – like Mac OS, Linux and Windows as well as Pracket extension – Ardunio Studio is an IDE for all environments. Other than being used as a stand alone on a PC, Arduino Studio can be used in web/cloud mode, embedded on Arduino boards themselves or through a browser.

“Arduino Studio will allow to better support the development and distribution of Arduino, promising efficiency and versatility to an always larger community of developers,” said the CEO of Arduino.org, Federico Musto.  The incorporation of the Arduino programming environment into an all-in-one software presents Arduino in a more consumer-friendly light.  Along with more user-friendly 3D printers, this news implies that Making is becoming a more mainstream activity. The alpha release of Arduino Studio is available to download on arduino.org. Arduino Studio is open to contributions from the community for new themes, libraries, or themes.
