France-based metal 3D printer manufacturer AddUp has established a new subsidiary in North America, opening the doors to its new AddUp Solution Center in Cincinnati.
The Solution Center will serve as a demonstration zone for AddUp’s powder bed fusion (PBF) and directed energy deposition (DED) technologies, as well as for metal 3D printing services, POC production, consulting services, and training for US customers.
Situated at 5101 Creek Road in Blue Ash, Ohio, the facility was launched with an Open House grand opening event on June 22nd, and marks AddUp’s first subsidiary outside of France.
The event day comprised tours of the additive manufacturing facility for hundreds of individuals from local businesses, universities, government agencies, and local economic development leaders. A select number of AddUp partners were also showcased at the event, including Michelin, Fives, PostProcess Technologies, Oak Ridge National Lab, Ohio State University, and America Makes.

The AddUp ecosystem – six years in the making
Headquartered in Cebazat, AddUp started out as a joint venture between Michelin and Fives back in 2016. The firm’s 3D printer portfolio now includes the FormUp range of PBF systems, as well as the BeAM Modulo and Magic lines of DED machines, which have in-house designed nozzles for optimized precision and productivity. This gives customers a choice depending on their metal additive manufacturing needs.
The flagship FormUp 350 is a laser-based PBF system designed to combine safety, productivity, and quality in one comprehensive package. Complete with features like a quad 500W laser setup, a bidirectional recoating system, and automatic report generation after every build, the printer is suitable for a plethora of applications in research, aerospace, automotive, and more.
Earlier this year, AddUp launched three new process monitoring software packages to complement the FormUp 350: AddUp Dashboards, Recoat Monitoring, and Meltpool Monitoring. Aimed at ensuring the quality of each and every build, the platforms are expected to accelerate the adoption of the company’s technology by increasing confidence in end-use industrial applications.
What’s next for the AddUp Solution Center?
With opening day now in the rear-view mirror, the Solution Center is ready to accept enterprises looking to expand their operations into the additive manufacturing sphere.
The Cincinnati facility comes equipped with dedicated workspaces containing a total of six PBF and two DED 3D printers. It also features a metallurgy lab, monitoring bay, quality metrology lab, a CNC machining department for post-processing operations, and an applications training facility for customers in aerospace, defense, medical, and manufacturing tooling.
Certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS 9100, the facility is ITAR and CMMC-compliant. An ISO 13485 certification is also in progress, with official accreditation expected later in 2022.
Austin Kron, Director of Operations and Services at AddUp Inc, concludes, “The AddUp Solution Center aids customers in their AM journey by bringing in the right tools and certifications to de-risk their engagement. This facility allows us to walk customers through the entire process from the design of the part and feasibility testing to qualification and delivery.”
