ADDiTEC, a company specializing in metal additive manufacturing, has launched the AMDROiD X, a laser-wire Directed Energy Deposition (DED) system designed for rapid deployment in austere environments and maritime applications. The unit operates within a 10-foot expandable modular container and integrates multi-axis robotics to print large-scale metal components with minimal setup time.
AMDROiD X is equipped with a 6kW fiber laser, with an optional 12kW upgrade, allowing in-field production and repair of mission-critical parts. It is compatible with stainless steel, Inconel, aluminum, copper, and other industrial metals, providing a solution for sectors requiring rapid and flexible manufacturing.

A six-axis robotic arm, developed in collaboration with ABB and Siemens, enables multi-directional deposition for complex geometries and large-scale components. The system’s expandable workspace allows production of parts up to 1.8 meters in dimension, with a layer thickness range of 0.6 to 1.8 mm.
The System is designed to print a wide range of metals, supporting wire feedstock diameters from 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm. A closed-loop process control system, utilizing melt pool temperature monitoring, dynamically adjusts laser power and wire feed rates to maintain consistent deposition quality.
A vacuum-sealed inert chamber system, integrated with argon shielding, ensures controlled atmospheric conditions for high-quality metal printing. An active water-cooling mechanism regulates thermal input, reducing distortion and enhancing structural integrity.

Modular Energy System and Rapid Deployment
AMDROiD X includes a 54 kWh rechargeable power system, distributed across four integrated power walls. A solar-powered roof provides additional energy reserves, supporting off-grid operation in remote locations.
The self-contained enclosure is designed for forward deployment, allowing rapid setup and operation within hours. The unit’s compact footprint and expandable workspace make it suitable for field manufacturing and repair applications where traditional production infrastructure is unavailable.
ADDiTEC has integrated its DROiD BUiLDER software, a multi-axis motion control platform optimized for automated path correction and print optimization. The system is preconfigured for ABB and Siemens robotic frameworks, allowing seamless integration into industrial workflows.
A 6+2 motion axis system enables dynamic toolpath adjustments, with real-time process monitoring ensuring consistent deposition rates and part accuracy. The software interface allows parametric control over laser settings, material deposition, and motion paths, reducing manual intervention.
