3DCompare now compares over 11,000 3D Printing materials

3DCompare, a 3D printing service comparison platform, has announced a material comparison feature. The new online tool allows 3D printer users to discover suitable materials, compare prices and make purchases.

The 3DCompare material database covers filament, resin, powder for SLS and metal AM and materials including ceramics.  Users can add materials to the comparison dashboard and see how specifications measure up. The main purpose of this site is to make it easier for users to search and find the right material for their 3D prints. A list of the available manufacturers and resellers is given to compare and providing users with a direct link to access their store and make the eventual purchase.

Alex Ziff, 3DCompare CEO said, “From the first day we came up with the idea of creating a large and curated database of prices and technical specifications to make sure that we could provide an easy and accessible way of comparing 3D materials from resellers on a larger scale than any other.”

3DCompare says their database is now the “world’s largest collection of consumer and professional materials in one place.” With more than 11,000 3D printing material listed the database is certainly larger than the Senvol database that currently lists just over 1500.

Materials, ranging from industrial grade filaments such as PEEK and PETG  to consumer standards like PLA and ABS. The 3D printing materials market has been predicted to grown from $530mil in 2016 to $1.8bn in 2022, suggesting an increase in both supply and demand. This site has been created to assist users in finding a trusted reseller who suits their 3D needs.

Materials that can be found on the website include dental resin, castable resin, SLS powders, metal AM powders, engineering thermoplastics such as PEEK or PETG, PLA and ABS. Brands that can be found on the website including well-known enterprises such as Colorfabb, Filoalfa, 3D Systems and formlabs.  3D printing materials from by resellers including 3DJake and Technology Outlet are also available, together with pricing.
