3D Systems and Dreve Improve Hearing Aid Production

3D Systems (NYSE:DDD) recently announced that the Dreve FotoTec hearing aid material is now available for use in its professional 3D printer the ProJet® 6000.

As a pioneer of 3D printing for healthcare applications, 3D Systems has a long history — dating back almost a decade — of transforming the production of hearing aids from labour intensive, handcrafted devices into fully automated, 3D printed tailor made in-ear hearing aids.

The ProJet 6000 is a specifically designed 3D printer, safe to use in an office/lab environment ustilising the proprietary SLA process that greatly improves the throughput for hearing aid production. The print surface is also promised to be so smooth that it results in 50% less finishing time.

Both companies seem very happy with the co-operation:

Dr. Volker Dreve, CEO Dreve GmbH, stated: “We are pleased to expand our 3D Systems partnership with the addition of the ProJet 6000 to our own fleet of 3D Systems production printers. Our customers, like Comfoor B.V., will benefit by upgrading to the new ProJet 6000 using our new Fototec Otoplastik SL.E material based on its proven performance.”

“We are thrilled to offer our hearing aid customers a proven, integrated solution that combines the latest products from two leading providers into a powerful and affordable manufacturing tool,” stated Lee Dockstader, Vice President of Business Development for 3D Systems.
