3D Printing

3D Printlife Wants to Show that You CAN 3D Print Your Life!

Take an (almost) empty apartment, a cute guy, a cuter dog and a 3D printer and what do you get?

Well, according to the peeps behind California based 3D printing company, 3D Printlife, it’s a perfect marketing opportunity. They say that they have been “driven to find new and entertaining ways to show the value of 3D printing in the home.” The result is a video series that will see the company’s marketing executive — Joel Rush — demonstrate how he transforms a bland apartment in Studio City, California (likely not where he really lives, despite the dog) into “a fabulous 3D printed apartment, room by room.”

Entitled ‘Joel Rush’s 3D Printlife’ (clever huh?), the first video in the series starts with the bathroom, and sees Joel waking up (literally) to the problem of a dingy bathroom! Happens to me every day, but it hasn’t made me buy a 3D printer yet! Anyway, once sleepy bed-head Joel becomes magically coiffeured Joel, he 3D prints a trendy solution — some new shower curtain hooks! That’ll do it! Apparently a full line of bath accessories and some surprising decorative pieces will follow.

You can watch it for yourself here and do let me know if you get to the end without cringing:

Future episodes are all set to bring different design challenges and will tackle the kitchen, the bedroom and the living room. New episodes will be posted on the company’s website each Tuesday. I’ll be going back — if only to see what excuse the kitchen and the living room bring for Joel to take his shirt off!!! The bedroom, obviously, is a no-brainer.

I have to say — it’s full on, hit you between the eyes, marketing! But for me, it’s one of those that has me hooked. It’s so bad, it’s good.
