3D Printing

11-Year-Old Fan of One Direction Prints Niall with 3D Printlife

After meeting Joel Rush and Jeff Stevens from 3D Printlife in person, there was one thing that I picked up on immediately: these are really personable guys.  And that’s what makes them perfect for introducing the uninitiated to 3D printing. What 3D Printlife seeks to do is to make 3D printing as accessible and understandable to non-technical people as possible and, with a technology that can seem complex from an outsider’s perspective, it may be necessary to ease them into using it with something that makes them feel comfortable.  In recording a video with 11-year-old Madison, Joel does just that.

In the following video, Joel meets up with Madison, a young One Direction fan, and tells her that, using a 3D printer, she’ll have the ability to print a 6-inch replica of her favorite member, Niall.  There are plenty of 3D printer unboxing videos out there, but I don’t think I’ve seen one performed by an 11-year old.  After unboxing an Afinia H-Series herself, introducing it to her laptop with all of the right cables and software, Joel returns to help perform the first print.  In no time, Madison has found herself printing a 6-inch bust of Niall.  You can watch the whole video below:

Madison is more than happy, if not a little astounded, by her new creation.  And the process of printing her favorite boy band member has shown her how easy and how applicable to her life 3D printing can be.  I believe that the Afinia H-Series is currently on sale at 3D Printlife with a $200 discount for the holidays, too, so it’s not a bad time to introduce your teens and tweens to the wonders of 3D printing.
