Roboze to launch Argo 500 3D printer with Carbon PEEK material at formnext

Italian OEM Roboze has announced that it will be launching its new Argo 500 printer and new Carbon PEEK 3D printing material at formnext.

Roboze describe the Argo 500, their first 3D printer since the Roboze One was updated in April as a new high-impact FFF 3D printing solution.

The Roboze Argo 500

The Argo 500 is named after the Argo, the ship in which Jason and his fellow adventurers travelled to the distant kingdom of Colchis in search of the golden fleece, according to the Hellenistic Greek poet Apollonius of Rhodes.

Roboze are trying to recapture that same spirit of mythical adventure in the R&D behind their new 3D printer, which “reflects the strong character of the Argonauts linked to the research effort in waters where no one had gone before.”

Larger than Roboze’s other printers released to date, the Argo 500 has a print volume of 500 x 500 x 500 mm, capable of part production for the aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectors.

The 3D printer is capable of printing carbon-fiber reinforced polyamide Carbon PA, PEEK, ULTEM AM9085F, and the company’s newest material, CARBON PEEK.

The Carbon PEEK

Roboze’s new Carbon PEEK 3D printing material adds “extra thermal stability and stiffness” to the existing PEEK material that is used by the Roboze One+400, according to Simone Cuscito, Roboze CTO and Materials Scientist.

“The addition of specially selected Carbon Fibers improve mechanical properties of the material and increase its HDT maintaining its properties even at a higher temperature than neat PEEK. Compare to the more standard Glass Fiber reinforcement, the CF gives higher weight saving, with ESD properties.”

Roboze will be exhibiting at formnext 2017, at booth G-38 in in hall 3.1, from 14-17 November, where both the Carbon PEEK material and the Roboze Argo 500 will be on display.
