Rinkak Partnership Adds Vibrant Colors and Finishes to 3D Printing Marketplace

Kabuku Inc‘s Rinkak 3D printing marketplace is emerging as an elegant addition to the world of online 3D printing services, bringing what seems to be a welcome take on 3D printing marketplaces.  For instance, a story on their latest offering of laser sintered wood received tons of hits on 3DPI this month.  For that reason, I’m keeping a close eye on the Japanese 3D printing marketplace, including today’s news that Rinkak is teaming with FEEL GOOD CREATION Inc.

According to Rinkak, FEEL GOOD CREATION is an expert in CMF (Color, Material, Finish), though not previously focused on additive manufacturing. Via their partnership, will take advantage of these skills in corporate client-focused CMF services and goods manufactured via Rinkak. In terms of their corporate client-focused services, the partners will work on a CMF package for 3D printers, specifically, working together to promote sales and to license their CMF packages. Then, within the Rinkak marketplace itself, these CMF services will be applied to printed products.  The company also says that these CMF services will be licensed to other factories.

If you visit the FEEL GOOD CREATION site, you’ll see just how color, material, and finish are executed and explored by the Japanese firm.  The firm has created some truly stunning pieces of industrial design ranging from creating plastic resins that result in the appearance of a polished stone to plating objects with rich metallic depth and texture.  So, while other online service bureaus like Shapeways, i.materialise, and Sculpteo offer a broad range of unique finishes for 3D printed objects, the implementation of FEEL GOOD’s post-processing could add a whole new range of options to 3D printed goods.  Imagine 3D printing intricate items, as you might via any 3D printing service, only to have them coated in a unique material that gives them the appearance of jade or marble.  As exciting as 3D printing services have been up until now, they are about to get a lot more interesting.
