3D Printers

MakerBot Is Now Fully Mobile

Apologies to anyone misled by the title — it does not mean that now you can carry a 3D printer in your pocket (though that would be cool) but it does mean that you can now 3D print on your MakerBot 3D printer from anywhere, just by downloading to and using your iPhone or iPad

The new MakerBot mobile App completes the renewed MakerBot digital ecosystem launched with the MakerBot Desktop App and the fifth generation of MakerBot 3D printers.

The biggest addition is that now you will be able to put that MakerBot Replicator built-in camera to full use, beyond just taking photos of your prints. Through you iPhone or iPad you will be able to monitor the print and hit stop if anything goes wrong.

In fact you will also be empowered to start your prints, directly from the Thingiverse cloud network. That means that you will just choose one of over 300,000 free models (300,000? I was still on just above 100.000), send it to the virtual build area plate and hit print, via mobile, on the physical build plate.

Then bragging about what you just made by posting it on Thingiverse or any social network will be the least you can do.
