After one year of leaping through the additive manufacturing market, Netherlands-based Leapfrog is joining the spree of online 3D printing giveaways. They’re celebrating their one-year anniversary by giving away their entry-level Leapfrog Creatr with a dual extruder upgrade. This ‘plug and play’ printer, considered to be serious competition to the Makerbot Replicator 2, is normally offered at $1500 with a single extruder. With this dual extruder model, you can print ABS with one head while printing water soluble PVA support structures so that, once you’re object is complete, you can soak it in water to clear away the excess material. The machine has a build size of 230 x 270 x 200 mm and boasts a production speed of 2 cubic centimeters per minute. The manufacturers claim that it’s very easy to use, but, most importantly, it’s real ‘purty’ to look at!
