How Carbon 3D Printer Works ?

AR-305099985

Delphi is printing parts out of a liquid polymer bath, using a process created by Carbon.

This new 3D printing process makes complex shapes that can’t be made by mold injection and the parts are stronger, yet lighter.

  • A special window allows light and oxygen to pass through.
  • The light turns liquid plastic into a solid.
  • The oxygen inhibits resin from solidifying and sticking to the window.

Delphi is installing a number of parts made from this unique 3D printing process, including this connector, into a fleet of 25 cars in Warren, Ohio for durability testing. Delphi is looking seriously at mass producing parts using this unique 3D process.
