3DPI.TV – 3D Systems New Consumer Line Up Launched at CES 2014

Last week saw the 2014 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. 3D printing took centre stage, with 3D printing giant 3D Systems dominating headlines with a proliferation of new launches of 3D printers for consumers. Leading the way and announced just ahead of CES was the 3rd generation of the company’s Cube 3D printer. Billed as a true plug & play consumer 3D printer it is also the first 3D printer from 3D Systems to retail under $1,000, with company representatives telling CES visitors it is for everyday use and comes equipped with 3DSystems’ simultaneous multi-material and dual-colour printing capability.

The Cube 3 also comes with advanced mobile printing capabilities via seamless integration with a new Cubify mobile app along with higher speed WIFI and Bluetooth connectivity.

3D Systems’ consumer emphasis includes a focus on safety and the Cube 3 meets all IEC 60950 Printer Safety Requirements making it safe for ‘at home’ use by adults and children alike. The Cube 3 is due to ship Quarter 2 of this year.

Other announcements from 3D Systems at CES included Food and Ceramics 3D Printers for consumer facing industries as well as other hardware ancillaries to make the 3D printing process easier.

And, if that was not enough, the company also introduced will.i.am, on site, as the company’s new Chief Creative Officer.
