3D Printed Medical Solution from 3D Systems
3D Systems has developed a new generation of custom-made hand brace device, which is set to launch before the end of the year. The announcement of this medical application of 3D printing follows the company’s recent acquisition of Bespoke Innovations™. Bespoke’s medical insight has been deployed together with 3D Systems’ integrated scan-to-print technology to replace previous hand brace devices with this latest generation of 3D printed braces that are adaptive and personalized to fit the lifestyle and condition of each individual patient.
Musculoskeletal medicine accounts for approximately 30% of all acute orthopaedic care including sports, industrial or job related injury and chronic conditions. Bespoke Innovations is also known for its specialized coverings that surround an existing prosthetic leg, recreating the body form through a process that uses three-dimensional scanning to capture the unique leg shape.
“We are thrilled to apply 3D Systems’ integrated technology to transform musculoskeletal healthcare delivery for the benefit of patients,” said Abe Reichental, President and CEO of 3D Systems. “Our commitment is to improve lives with custom exoskeleton and orthopaedic devices that are personalized, streamlined, hygienic and adaptive to enhance the patient experience and return them to a productive lifestyle sooner,” concluded Reichental.
